Missionary Update 12/22/2017

Hello Pastor Smith,

Merry Christmas!! I trust you all are doing well. We are doing good here in West Kelowna. So thankful for God's working. We had a great Christmas fellowship this past Friday, with 41 in attendance. several came from our home church, but we had about 18 from Faith's Door.

We are looking forward to Christmas Eve with a special service in the morning. Our children's Sunday school class will be singing a special. Please pray that some parents and friends would come to hear the young people and that they would here the clear Gospel as well.

New Years Eve we will be having a potluck meal and our second vision service. I am excited to share our theme with he people and cast the vision for 2018!

Thank you for all your prayers and support. Please find attached our most recent family picture.

God bless and Merry Christmas,

Josh Smith

Missionary Update 03/06/2017

January – February 2017
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22
Dear Fellow-labourers,
Our theme for 2017 is “Have Faith in God” based on Mark 11:22. It has been a blessing as we have challenged those that are attending FDBC to have faith in God. We have seen some great things happen during these first two months of 2017. People are beginning to show some patterns of faithfulness to church. We are rejoicing that God has brought a core of people to FDBC. During January and February, we have seen an average of 17 people attending Sunday morning, 10 people Sunday night and 9 people on Thursday night for Bible study and Prayer. One Sunday morning we had 25 in attendance, which is our largest Sunday morning attendance since our first Sunday in October when we had 28.
The greatest news that I am blessed to share with you is that since our last update we have had the privilege to see 3 souls saved and have seen 4 people baptized with two more that will be baptized in the next couple weeks! That truly is why we are here in West Kelowna, to see souls saved and people deciding to live for the Lord. Please pray for Pedro, Tara and their two daughters as they have followed the Lord in baptism that they will now grow in the Lord. I am praying specifically that Pedro and Tara would want to be faithful in a discipleship program. We have seen other victories along the way. God is always so good. Sarah held our first ladies fellowship which was attended well. There were 8 ladies that came out that night. They had a great time of fellowship and Sarah brought a devotion geared just for the ladies. They all stayed around and continued to fellowship while labeling tracts. They labeled over 1500 tracts in a few hours. It was a blessing to see people willing and excited to serve the Lord. In the coming weeks we will be having a men’s fellowship breakfast. The men that are attending have committed to come and we are looking forward to having a great time in fellowship and having a devotion to challenge the men to be the spiritual leaders that they ought to be. In April we will be having our first work day at the church building. The men in the church are excited to have an opportunity to serve. We will be doing a few small repairs to the wheel chair ramp, adding a few electrical outlets to the kitchen (Baptists need a place to plug in their crockpots!) and we will also be building a more permanent and better looking baptistery.
Our family is doing well. The girls are all healthy and we are so thankful to be settled into West Kelowna and into as much routine as the ministry allows. Mattaya is progressing in kindergarten and Sarah is happy to see the end of the school year in sight. As many of you know Mattaya has been saved for a little over a year now, and we are so excited that she decided to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. We had tried a couple times to get her to follow the Lord in baptism but she was reluctant. As time progressed it was evident that the Lord was doing a work in her heart. Mattaya was our first person to be baptized and my very first person to baptize!!! What a blessing it was as a father to baptize my own daughter. Bella and Gwyneth are doing well. They are best friends most of the time and the rest of the time seem to be sworn enemies. They both keep us all laughing as we never know what they will be up to next! We are thankful that they healthy and growing. Please pray for Bella specifically as she seems to be starting to think about salvation. She knows she is a sinner and knows that she needs to be saved but doesn’t seem to be willing to accept Jesus as her Saviour.
Thank you to all those that have prayed for Sarah and offered advice and counsel in regards to her health concerns she was having last year. We are thankful that we have found a family Doctor in West Kelowna who seems like He will be a great help. We praise the Lord that with some change in diet we seemed to have found an answer or at least a way to manage the pain. Please continue to pray that these changes will be helpful and ultimately be the solution we needed. What a privilege it is to serve the Lord. Thank you so much for those that support us financially to allow us to be here in West Kelowna. Thank you to so many more who pray for us, we could not have served and seen these precious souls saved and lives changed without your support and prayers.
In HIS service, Josh and Sarah Smith

Missionary Update 02/03/2017

Hello Pastor Smith and Church Family,

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. We are doing well. As we settle into the new year we have seen God's blessing on Faith's Door Baptist Church. It seemed we hit a slump over the holiday season, I guess that was to be expected, but it did bring with it a bit of discouragement. However as we keep our eyes on the Lord, He gives strength to go forward.

We are rejoicing that two Sundays ago, I had the privilege after the morning service to sit down in my office with Pedro and Tara. I was able to talk with Pedro and hear his testimony of salvation and I was able to give the gospel to Tara and Praise the Lord she accepted Christ as her Saviour! Both Pedro and Tara want to follow the Lord in believer's Baptism!

Please pray with us about this in the next few weeks. I need to get a way to baptize put together. I need to the Lord to give me wisdom and provide all the parts to get a tank together. Please pray that this will all come together so we can Baptize Pedro and Tara on February 12th. Also please pray for their two daughters (8 and 10 years old) to accept Christ as well.

On a personal note, please pray for our oldest daughter Mattaya, she has been saved for a little more than a year, but has not been baptized. Please pray God would work in her heart as she sees this Baptism, and that she might follow the Lord in obedience.

Thank you again or your prayers in support of our ministry here in Canada,

Josh Smith

Missionary Update 12/02/2016

Good morning Pastor Smith and church family,

I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your faithful support and let you know a few things happening here.
We have been having good services, with visitors coming consistently. People in West Kelowna have been receptive of the Gospel while we are door knocking. However as with most Canadians there is little Bible knowledge so it is going to take several more visits to those who are interested to explain their need of a Saviour.

Please pray with us about these requests

1. Pray for Larry and Roxanne - they are lost and came several weeks ago. She responded to the invitation and talk with Sarah for several minutes but was not willing to receive Christ. Pray that they will either come back to some more services or allow us to sit down with them and explain further.

2. Please pray for the Christmas season. We have a little package we have put together with some candy canes and a Gospel message. Those who are attending have committed to take some to their neighbors and friends. We will deliver them to those who live in our neighbourhood. On Saturday the 17th we are planning to distribute them to about 200 homes in the immediate area around the church building.

Thank you again for your prayers and support,

Josh and Sarah Smith
