Missionary Update 05/03/2016

Dear Friends, JANUARY. The trip to Australia turned out to be a blessing in disguise. During the 3 weeks that I stayed with family and friends I was able to share the gospel numerous times with family, friends and strangers. My cousin Tony’s family has witnessed a miracle. Tony is much better now, but he still sits and talks with some difficulty. His left side is still recovering, but “he came back from the dead” as one doctor described it. Another event of great importance was the opportunity to meet with Brother Angelo Goussis. Angelo had come for a year to Greece to translate for the work in Thessaloniki. Angelo witnessed to Tony’s family before I went to be with them. I had called him, and he drove 5 and a half hours to have an opportunity to share the gospel with them. I also came to find out that he has been witnessing to another two first cousins of mine in Sydney without him knowing my relationship with them. In return I had the opportunity to share the gospel with Angelo’s parents. They are “Hard core” Greeks…. He thought I would not be able to be with them more than 5 minutes. But the Lord prevailed. God used my “Greekness” to reach them. After an hour and a half, they would not let me go. We both were very excited for this rare opportunity. Angelo has undertaken the task to pass out our Greek newspaper to the Greeks that he knows in Sydney. We now send 50 FAROS’ to Sydney every month. Two days before I left, I was invited to a ball that the Zakynthian Greeks hold in Sydney. I was asked to sing for them at the end of their meal. I sang a couple of Zakynthian songs and then I shared with them a gospel song that I have written. Many eyes were wet at the end. I thanked the Lord that he gave me the opportunity to share his love with more than 200 Zakynthians in a foreign land. FEBRUARY found me back home trying to catch up with family, church and work. A great blessing was to see a young gypsy couple, which Spiro had been witnessing to while I was gone, come to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Maringlen and Irena. They have been faithful, and their daughter attends our Sunday school. MARCH was an extremely busy month also. Larry and Kathy Miller came again to be with us this year. In the 3 weeks they stayed with us, we were able to witness a change in many of our church members through the soul care they give. Being there with them to translate I was so overwhelmed by the stories of the people that God has given us to shepherd. Once again, I came to realize the need to strengthen the lives of those we are ministering to. Sometimes we lead a church as a platoon in God’s battle not realizing that even though we might provide our soldiers with the best training, weapons, and tactics, we don’t realize that many of them cannot even hold a weapon because of the wounds that they carry from their lifetime. The marriage seminar also was a great tool to evangelize and to strengthen our church’s families. APRIL has been a special month and a turning point in our ministry. You have been praying for the Greek Bible Radio for almost a year now. Satan had a good shot at ruining much of the work I did last year, but we are back on our feet with the project. Matt Crane and Brian Gaines were here with us from Oregon USA to help us establish the radio. We met in Athens with the other pastors and prayed over the new work that is to start soon. Matt and Brian came to the island and recorded a lot of short messages and verses from our people. Pastor Dimakos in Athens, Pastor Tsirozidis in Halandri, and Pastor Toskidis in Patra have been recording messages for the radio also. What an exciting time is this. Over 20 million Greeks will be able to hear the gospel in Greek around the world. “Αλήθειας ΦΑΡΟΣ”, “Truth’s LIGHTHOUSE” is the name we have chosen to represent the Bible truths that we will be projecting. Our daughter Zoe is graduating on May 4th. April will be taking a 2-week trip to be with her and help her move and start her new job in a Christian academy. Fotinos, our oldest son, is moving to Bible College this July or August to study music. I don’t know if we are ready for all these changes, but it is encouraging to see our children seek the Lord’s leading. Pray for: • Maringlen’s and Irena’s new lives in Christ. • The “Faros”, our monthly newspaper. The new Web Radio Station to start within 2016. • The Greeks’ freedom from idolatry and dead works to salvation. • Direction in Summer Camp planning. July 3rd – July 10th or 13th. • Fotinos’ School year and direction to Bible College. Zoe’s new life. Our trip to the States. Our little ones that are staying behind while we travel. We greatly appreciate your love in finances and prayer!
