Missionary Update 02/19/2019

February, 2019 Dear Friends and Family, I did go to Rwanda and Uganda.  What a prosperous journey the Lord gave me.  Thank you for your prayers.  God granted safety, physical ability, wisdom and decisiveness just like many of you prayed.  The radio equipment arrived safely, and no duty was charged.  It is being put into operation right now.  Sadock and I went to Kibungo and purchased the plot of land for the new church.  The block making machine has been ordered.  Frank will use the machine to support himself as he and Jackson start the new church.  Jackson is presently in Kibungo looking for a job to support himself. On March 1st a container will be loaded with Christian literature for Rwanda and other East African countries.  Last week Danny and Betty Webb from our home church delivered 25,000 New Testaments from B&L Missionary Foundation.  Kathy and I picked up 24 cases of French Bibles and 24 cases of English Bibles from Beams.  This week we will go back to B&L for more NT’s and booklets.  Victory Baptist Press has printed 1 million Bridge picture tracts in 8 languages.  Chick tracts has sent us 100,000 tracts.  Many other tracts, books, John and Romans and other literature are being added. I could use some Wilmington’s Guide to the Bible for the English BI’s if you have one or more you would like to provide.  Pray this literature will be used to evangelize and edify multitudes in East Africa. Construction on new buildings is scheduled to begin in Cyangugu, Kigali and Ruhengiri in the next week or two.  Sadock and Jean Claude will travel to Kibuye to look for a plot for a new church.  Jean Claude is a student in the Kinyarwanda BI and will begin and start the church.  He needs $150 per month to provide the basic needs for he and his family.  He is married with five children.  He will work repairing electronics to meet additional needs.  Within two years we believe the new church will be able to provide for their needs. Kathy and I want to thank you once again for partnering with us in this wonderful work of God.  The Lord is putting together a work that will bring glory to Him.  He has already provided the means to buy land in six of the ten targeted cities and build buildings in four of them.  Let me encourage you to ask God to open your eyes that you might see what He sees and the way He sees.  Please read 2 Kings 6:17   Your missionaries to East Africa – Tony and Kathy  Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.  Amen    Ephesians 3:20-21

Missionary Update 01/07/2019

January 2019 Dear Friends and Family,    I am preparing to leave for Rwanda and Uganda next Tuesday and will be gone for two weeks.  I feel impressed to write a prayer and praise letter to share two messages I received this past week. Pastor of Berea Baptist Church in Butare wrote:    Our Christmas was a blessing we baptized 13 people. The first one was 60 years old.  Thank you for praying for us. Br. IGNACE Bro Sadock in Kigali, Rwanda wrote this Christmas greeting: Yesterday I went to preach on the radio and the Lord was with me.  I made so many contacts.  Brother Jean Claude and I went and visited a family with their neighbor who had been listening to the radio and they both received Christ as their Savior.  It was joy unspeakable!     The Lord has done so much this year.  So much that I can't tell it all.  I do remember when I first saw your email in my box.  I was so surprised.  As we continued to talk, I had to repent of my unbelief.  Pastor, when you first wrote to me, I was very discouraged by our government shutting down churches, not allowing people to meet in house, not having money to build churches, even to eat.  I was getting ready to come back to Kigali, look for a job and just fight for life.  But God is a wonderful Master.  He sent you at the right time and you brought the answer.  Pastor thank you very much for letting God use you in my life and many others.  Because of you, this year has been the best in my life.  This year I feared the most in my life, but I also grew in faith. I received more joy than ever. I now have strong hope that churches are starting here in Rwanda. and today is the best Christmas I have ever had in my life. I am a different person! Thank you very much again pastor.  It is impossible for me to find proper words to express my appreciation, but I just want you to know that I will never forget what you have done and will never let down. Yours faithfully, Sadock and family    When I read this my heart was filled with joy and my eyes with tears.  What a wonderful God we serve.  He is doing so much and yet lets us be a part of it.  Thank you for helping us reach and minister to the world of East Africa.  You are having a part in changed lives that will last forever and produce eternal dividends.     I will be taking in new radio equipment to expand the outreach of NLR in Buhimba.  Pray the equipment will arrive undamaged and will pass customs with little or no duty.    Sadock and I will travel to eight of the ten cities we have targeted for Acts 1:8 churches.  I am especially excited about visiting, for the first time, Kibungo in the southeast corner of Rwanda.  Sadock holds Bible study there with 20 that have been saved through the radio ministry.  Frank and Jackson are ready to lead and even pastor a new church there.  They have a plot of land that would be right for a church.  We can buy the land and a block making machine for $5000.  The block making machine would provide an income for these two men. Pray for safety, physical ability, wisdom and decisiveness. Your missionaries to East Africa – Tony and Kathy  Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.  Amen    Ephesians 3:20-21

Missionary Update 12/14/2018

Dear Friends and Family,        As we come to the end of another year let me begin this letter by saying, “To God be the glory great things He hath done”.  It has truly been a fruitful and productive year for East Africa Outreach and the Starks.  New Life Radio continues to bring forth testimonies of lives being saved and changed.  Denis from Buhimba just wrote:   Yesterday I was visited by Tumusiime Evelyn who has been for long owning a bar. She has been     selling alcohol. She shared a lot with me. Praise the Lord, for long she has been listening to my program and yesterday she gave her life to the Lord. She closed the bar and now she is looking to the Lord for provision and guidance.  Praise the Lord.         Earlier he had written:  The lord has blessed us with three souls.  From these three people, Nuwaga Erick has an interesting story. He has been a witch for some good number of years. Throughout this time, he would listen to my programs every evening. He felt like leaving his job, but it would deprive him of his earning. Last week he felt it was too much for him. He called me at 5:00am, asking me how he can change and be a good person. I told him to receive Jesus Christ as His personal savior. He did it right away. He invited me, and last Sunday evening I went there. I saw a lot of things.  We had a good time. The wife, who had run away due to his behavior, came back after hearing of his getting born again. Praise the Lord for these three souls.   Santo, missionary to DRC wrote: PASTOR, I HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL, I'M DOING FINE WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY. WE STARTED A CHURCH IN A PLACE CALLED "JUPAMOGO, TERRITOIRE DE MAHAGI".  WE HAVE 2 PREACHERS WHO WILL BE HELPING IN THAT MINISTRY, BE PRAYING FOR THEM AND FOR THE PEOPLE TO COME MORE TO THE LORD.   Gilbert, director of UBBI in Masindi, wrote: Pastor, we started well, and I am teaching homiletics.  The grandson of Idi Amin, former President of Uganda, has joined. He was led to Christ by a team of youth from the Masindi church. Pray for him; his name is Baddru.  Twelve have reported for class.  We are hoping for 5 more.   Ignace, pastor of Berea Baptist Church in Butare, Rwanda, has written saying that he has over 10,000 contacts of people following his ministry on radio and television that reaches into Rwanda and Burundi.   Sadock from Kigali, Rwanda, has written that the new church in Nyagatare is complete.  They had 50 in attendance the first Sunday and 60 with 42 adults and 18 children the second Sunday.      Let me stop here even though I could go on and on telling you about how great our God is and the many things He is doing.  Thank you for helping us do His work.  We wish you all a Christmas full of Jesus and joy.

Missionary Update 10/01/2018

Dear Friends and Family,      It is very clear to me and others that God is putting things together to reach the country of Rwanda with the truth of His Word.  It has been so encouraging to see the Lord work in spectacular ways.  I felt I needed to tell others.  Last Sunday when I finished preaching, I received an email from Ignace telling me about the response to his first radio broadcast from Butare.  He initially received 120 calls from 60 different locations.  Ignace preaches three times a week on a station that covers almost the whole country.  Pray for the seed of God's Word to fall on good ground and bring forth more fruit.      I told you of our plan to target ten population centers to buy land and build buildings for future churches in Rwanda.  In talking with Sadock and Ignace, we feel a plot of land can be bought for $5000 and a 40' by 50' building that meets the government's requirements can be built for $10,000.  While I was there we bought a plot in Cyangugu.  We have also bought plots in Ruhengiri and Kigali.  It costs more for the land in Kigali because it is the capital of the country, and it will also cost more to build the building.  Right now there is a 2.5 acre plot that can be purchased in Nyagatare and a building be built for a total of $7000.  The land would provide a place for the pastor to raise crops to sell and support his family.  Sadock has already established a Bible study in Nyagatare with 25 adults who were saved listening to his radio broadcast.  John, one of those adults, is assisting him and studying in the Kinyarwanda Bible Institute.  Attached you will see a photo of me standing on the plot in Nyagatare.  The second photo shows the model city being established by the government.  Our proposed plot is less than two miles from there and is also in the center of several other communities.      Please continue to pray for me for strength, energy and wisdom.  Pray for the preachers in East Africa to be filled with the Spirit as believers  were filled in the Bible.  Thank you for your help in the Lord's work. Missionary Update 09/10/2018

Dear Friends and Family, On August 20th Larry Nelson and I returned from a very blessed and prosperous journey to East Africa.  Before going any further I would like to thank you for your many prayers.  God gave wisdom, strength, resources, and protection when needed.  Please do not stop praying because we are home but increase your prayers to daily interceding for East Africa and the opportunities God is giving.  Let me share with you some specific prayer requests.      Joshua was involved with eight churches being planted in South Sudan.  Many of those believers are now in northern Uganda in refugee camps.  He and others he trained in their BI in South Sudan have established 10 churches in the camps.  A building was built while I was there, and the 11th church will be established with a BI there in the middle of these camps.  There are more than 1 million SS refugees in Uganda and more than 1800 new ones cross over into Uganda daily.  Joshua graduated from our UBBI in 1996 while he was a Sudanese refugee.  Pray for many to get saved and trained before they go back to South Sudan.  Pray for wisdom and resources for Joshua and the other pastors.      John Balijura is 45, married, and has 10 children that range in age from 10 months to 25 years.  He was saved in 1988 and graduated from UBBI in 1998.  He has been the pastor of Kyatiri Baptist Church since 2001.  He has just planted a second church.  John knows six languages besides English and can preach in five languages.    Pray for John to have strength and power as he preaches in his church, in villages and on New Life Radio.      I have been ministering with Gilbert Okecha and his wife Oliver for many years.  He is the director of UBBI in Masindi and is a circuit rider in the central part of western Uganda.  He works primarily with the Alur people helping develop pastors and young churches.  He teaches school to support his family but will leave that the first of the year to serve more effectively and also preach regularly on New Life Radio.  He has recently experienced fresh revival in his heart.  Pray it will not diminish.         If you read my prayer letters you know the names Alex and Denis.  Alex is the pastor of UBC in Buhimba.  Alex and Denis work together keeping New Life Radio in both Buhimba and Moyo on the air.  They are in the midst of expanding the outreach of NLR in Buhimba.  Both of them preach on the radio in Runyoro and have many listeners.  They have recently started a new church from radio listeners and are getting ready to start a second one from other listeners.  Pray for them as they train men who only speak Runyoro and as they start other churches.  They need funds, Bibles, songbooks and buildings as they respond to many listeners to New Life Radio.      I want to tell you about Bernard, Sadock and Ignace but have run out of room.  I have not been able to tell you about the burden, the plan and the strategy God has given me for reaching the country of Rwanda in 10 years.  It is from the Lord, and He is blessing and blessing.  I will write more soon.  If you are not getting my email updates send me an email message and I will add you to the list.  Pray for more laborers for South Sudan, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.  Pray for Kathy and me to have wisdom, strength, energy, and power in ministering.  Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.  Amen    Ephesians 3:20-21 Tony Stark

Missionary Update 08/13/2018

Dear Friends and Family, I have experienced some very prosperous days in Uganda.  Much to tell but will have to give details later.  God is blessing in a marvelous way. We were going to Rwanda by vehicle but had to change plans this morning and will fly tomorrow afternoon.  Physical problems broke out and couldn't go. Please pray for continued wisdom and the power of God.  Someone sent me some money while I was in Buhimba and I have already used it to help a preacher buy timbers and iron sheets to build a church building.  God is so good. God is using New Life Radio to do so much.  Everywhere we turn we are finding people that testify of how NLR has benefited them.  We are making some improvements that will send our broadcasts further and further.  Pastor John from Kyatiri came to the station to record some messages.  Some men from Congo called him as they were in Hoima town buying pigs.  They listen to him on the radio in Congo and wanted to meet with him. Brethren your prayers and offerings are affecting lives for eternity.  You are making good investments with your time and money. Thank you for helping me do the will and work of God. Tony Stark

Missionary Update 04/09/2018

Dear Friends and Family,  Kathy and I continue to enjoy the goodness of God upon our lives and ministry.  I preached several times in mission conferences in Alabama and Tennessee since our last prayer letter.  God blessed, and it was a real encouragement to minister with families going around the world to tell the truth so people can be set free and find a blessed relationship and fellowship with our true and living God.  I am teaching a class on Spiritual Leadership in Bible Institute on Tuesday nights.  Daily I am communicating with one or more preachers in East Africa.  It is so encouraging to see people you have reached carry on God’s work for His glory.  I trust you will be encouraged to hear some testimonies I received by email. Richard Oleo, pastor in Masindi wrote: The sow the seed program has started with many schools reached.  Schools so far preached to are: Masindi Secondary, Kings College Masindi, Kitara model Secondary School, Rock foundation senior School and Kinyara High Secondary School.  Many other schools are still being followed up to be granted the opportunity; however, we are still waiting for the gospel tracts to begin distribution of tracts in these schools including Primary schools.  Of the preaching done, we registered three souls at Kings college Masindi. I have written to the Commissioner General of Prisons to be given permission in Mid-Western Government Prisons; we are yet to make follow up of the letter in Kampala.  Two men are spearheading the program, Brother Rapheal and Brother Ronald are students in the Bible Institute and are active church members, soul winning and ministering in the choir. Denis, New Life Radio preacher and technician wrote:     A lot has been happening through my New Life radio preaching program. More people have been giving testimonies how the program has helped them. One of my radio listeners from Kyangwaali called Gard received Jesus Christ as His personal Savior. Ambroz from Kakindo, also received Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. Julius from Muro, Masindi District, received Jesus as His personal Lord and Savior. Kisembo from Kigorobya being rejected by his grandmother for a long time, she (grandmother) listened to one of my programs and later she had to forgive the grandson. Kisembo lost both of the parents and the only relative who had remained behind was the grandmother who had rejected him. His father died when he had sold off all the land. Kisembo didn’t have where to stay. Praise the Lord for New Life Radio for such a reconciliation between Kisembo and the grandmother. Alex, pastor of UBC in Buhimba wrote: Today we went to Katikara. The purpose of this journey was to find a suitable place where we could plant a church. You know we had several calls from our radio listeners in this place.  I believe the place we have seen would be a good place for a church. It’s near the town of Katikara. I have personally loved it plus the men I went with.  The size of the land is 65 feet x 150 feet. There’s also a small house on the land. This could be used as our first church building.  The owner is selling it at 10 million shillings.  The idea I have is, if we can buy this, then we will not have to rent a house. That one would help right away.  Let’s buy this land. Collin is ready to go, and we’re also ready to help him get started. He has also liked the place. Keep praying for more laborers in East Africa and for the laborers in East Africa.  Pray that we can soon get our tracts printed and shipped.
