September Report 2019 ON THE ROAD AGAIN - We’ve been “home” on furlough for only five weeks, but it seems like it has already been five months. Time does fly, especially as we have flown from place to place every few days. After a week and a half of local meetings near our home church and treasured time with family and friends, we hit the road and it has been non-stop ever since. Furlough, so far, has taken us to Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, and Texas. We have been in three mission conferences and have visited 10 churches. Ahead of us are several more mission conferences and meetings in Indiana, Ohio, California, Colorado, Florida, Washington State, and Idaho. Please pray with us for the following to be the blessed results of these meetings: 1. That we will be an encouragement to each church / family as they see how they are helping to reach Botswana for Christ. 2. That each church we visit will experience a revival and a renewed heart for global evangelism. 3. That God’s people (especially young people) will be sensitive to God’s call and surrender to serve at home and abroad. 4. That the Lord will provide for these special project funds - $10,000 to kick start a land/building purchase for Grace Baptist Church and the remaining $22,000 needed for the second printing of New Testaments. $3200 has been given already!! THE JOY OF GOD’S FAMILY - There were many blessed moments with family and dearest friends who have become family to us during our time in North Carolina. For the first time, we met Lilly (The Lilly Project) and her great family and presented a plaque honoring her and the church family for their contributions to the Bible project. It was a special moment, and we shared some sweet tears of joy as we celebrated God’s great grace and power and the precious faith of one little girl. The Mission Conference services were unusually powerful and the whole conference was like a revival. And we had the opportunity to visit Cindy’s uncle who had terminal brain cancer. Words cannot express the nearness of our Lord as we shared a few moments together and said our “goodbyes” to a dear man of God who is now face to face with our Saviour! In Texas, our cup was filled once again with the Texas sized love that our partnering churches there have for the Lord and missionaries. These past five weeks remind us of what joy it is to be so intertwined with God’s people. WOW, WE LOVE YOU FOLKS! Thank you for loving us and having such a heart to help us get the gospel to the ends of the earth. I know that the only way we can be worthy of such grace is to go back to Botswana and give our all in the work God has given us there. And believe me – we’re getting charged up about getting back to it! GREAT REPORTS FROM BOTSWANA - Pastor Monte is doing a wonderful job of caring for the church in our absence. As I’ve talked with different church members through WhatsApp I can hear their excitement, “Pastor Monte is finding himself. He’s preaching like a man on fire,” are just some of the comments. Last month 16 church members gathered to evangelize with New Testaments in a new village. They reached 400 homes in four hours giving one NT per household and sharing the gospel house to house. The church is standing behind Pastor Monte, encouraging him, and taking ownership of the ministry. This is the greatest joy any missionary could ask for. By faith we labor in love, then stand in amazement as the Lord builds HIS church. More great news, Emily’s permits were APPROVED, and she will be able to return with us in December. Please pray that the Lord will give us five new supporting churches. We hope to have the help of some missionary interns this coming summer so that we can go to a whole new level of getting into the public schools with the New Testaments and gospel cartoon outreach. Dear Churches and Friends,                                                                                 September 2019     There is a Bible Believing missionary that is starting a new church in a nearby town. The new church is about 2 hours away. Our group went down a couple of times to help this missionary get started. We went door to door handing out tracts and inviting people to church. We had several opportunities to give the gospel as well. Many tracts were handed out by our young men. It is encouraging to see Thai’s out giving the gospel and inviting folk to church. It was a great experience for all. The missionary was helped, and we also received a blessing. We are spiritually young, and going to help a church like this is good for our own growth. In addition, we got to see one college age girl get saved. This month we also had another baptism. One of our young men named Non came forward for baptism. He is a first-generation Christian. When he told his family he was a Christian, his dad said he didn’t want to talk with him. Fortunately, this didn’t last long. But the emotional strain lingers in his heart. It was a whole year before he came forward for baptism. This is common in Thailand. There is a strong undercurrent of spiritual and emotion pressure. However, it does not manifest itself physically like in other countries. We praise the Lord that he came forward to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism. Dear Pastor and Praying Friends:    We send you warm greetings from the Dominican Republic.  I joke quite a lot about the weather, but it really has been extremely hot during the last two months.  The electricity here, through the years, is really bad, then it gets a little better, a little better, and then it gets pretty good.  Then all of a sudden it gets really bad again. Right now, we are back in the really bad phase again.  Yesterday our electricity was off for 9 hours, and from what I understand, it has been that way all over the country over the last several weeks.  It is even hotter with no electricity!  (Welcome to the Dominican Republic!)   Pastor Scott London and a group of young people, from the Bethel Baptist Church of Graham, NC, were with us at the end of July.  They helped us with a Vacation Bible School for the kids, and a special Teen Youth Rally.  Praise God, between both activities we saw 167 professions of faith!  Then, a few weeks later, some great friends, Bro. Eliseo, his wife, Norma, their kids, Julian & Ivana, and Warner & Madelina Ochoa came to be with us.  What a great time we had with them!  Bro. Eliseo is a police officer in Washington, D.C. and he always is such a blessing to my family and church when he and his family visit us!   Since April, we have been working on trying to receive a shipment of gospel tracts and books of Romans from the Beacon of Truth Ministries.  Tracts, Bibles, and portions of Scripture are invaluable here, as most people receive them when you give them out.  Of course, the devil knows that, so he did everything he could to keep us from getting access to this gospel literature.  The broker we were using ended up being a thief, who took the container and two pallets of tracts & Romans and put them into his name, he created fraudulent paperwork, he had someone in customs hold up our shipment on purpose, he informed them that there were other things other than tracts and Romans in the shipment, and the bill ended up going up to $45,000 with all of the trickery he pulled.  God intervened, and he put two generals close to the President, the President himself, the Director of Port Authority, the Director of Customs, the Director of the shipping company “Navieras”, the Sub-director of Technical Problems with Customs, and many other people in our path to help us.  Let me say that we are so very thankful to each and every one of them for absolutely bending over backwards to help us resolve getting our tracts and Romans and exonerating almost all charges.  We, of course, praise the Lord, but we also thank these kind people for allowing the Lord to use them to help make this gospel literature available to the Dominican people, who we love!   Our church in Fantino is going to have its 1st church anniversary this coming weekend, I just preached for our 9th church anniversary for our church in Los Frailes, our new church in Manoguayabo will have its 1st anniversary in November, I am going to preach for Pastor Wellington’s 40th anniversary on October 6th (he did not start this church, but has been there for about 9 years), and we will have the 22nd anniversary for the first church we started in Quita Sueño on October 27th.  We have another church in an area called Wachupita that is not even a year old yet.  I am praying about some other areas where we want to start works.  Please pray for us as we try to do what we can before it is too late!   Our Bible Institute has started up for the semester.  My night of teaching is Monday nights.  My first class has 14 enrolled in it and 26 in the second class, with the Jr. Bible Institute students included.  I allow the teenagers who want to take classes in our Institute to so on Mondays to help encourage them in looking forward to the day when they can take all of the classes in our Institute.  It is exciting to see what God is doing in each of their lives!  Thank you for helping make all the things we have mentioned in this letter possible.  God bless you, my friends!   Your Friends and Servants in the Dominican Republic,                  Steve Sidler Steve, Nohemy, and Sarah Sidler

Dear Praying Friends, College next fall.  She speaks excellent English as she was born and raised mostly in the States.  She wants to finish well her last year of high school.  That brings our enrollment to 28, which ties our highest enrollment of a couple of years ago. As I said, this week we begin in earnest the Bible distribution.  We have already distributed hundreds of Bibles in several neighborhoods. Last Sunday, we had our first fruits of our sowing the Seed as a woman named Regina came from an upper middle-class area where we were knocking doors and distributing Bibles last Saturday morning. Carlos Gamboa, a military engineer who was saved the Sunday morning before our trip to the States, came on Saturday to knock doors with us and came by the church yesterday to get Bibles to distribute and I gave him a street to do. It was a blessing to see Franco and Guadalupe, the couple whom I mentioned last werk that were baptized from the van route, cleaning up after our "Noche Mexicana" celebration Sunday night for the Independence of Mexico.  They and Alan and Elizabeth, workers on the van route whom I have mentioned, were the last ones to leave.   September 20, 2019        Dear Faith Baptist Church,   Greetings to you from Pacific West Baptist College!   Time dashes. PWBC is now in its seventh year by God’s grace. For seven years, God showed His faithfulness, mercy, and grace upon us. He faithfully gives us teachers, students, and financial needs. Thank you for being part of this great ministry. Thank you for your continued prayer and support for God’s work here in Surrey.   This school year, God gave us nine full-time and one part-time student. We had a great start this year with many challenges from the Word of God. Last Wednesday, we had a privilege to listen to the preaching of Evangelist Dan Knickerbocker and left an exhortation for each of us to not be drifting away from the truth, to always rely on the power of God, and to preach the truth from the Word of God.   We want to ask for your earnest prayers for the Bible College, especially for the upcoming Legislative meeting this coming October 7th of 2019. As we mentioned from the previous letter, the Members of the Legislative Assembly will be having a meeting, and part of their agenda regards our application to become a Degree-Granting College that will be recognized by the Provincial Government. Our church is currently praying that the MLA will unanimously say yes and pass the Private Act for our college. As you all know, Mr. Luke Johnson, the attorney, is spearheading this process and working with us with matters of legal documents. We approached one of the MLA, a Christian man named Marvin Hunt, and he promised us that he would represent our college in the meeting. We know that these people are just men, just like us. That’s why we want to rely on God.
