Missionary Update 07/14/2017
Dear Pastor Smith and Faith Baptist Church, We just wanted to give you all a brief update on our family. Katie was blessed in June to be able to attend a Ladies Retreat with several churches down in Cape Town. It was a wonderful time of fellowship for her, especially as our opportunities to meet and fellowship with other like-minded believers in Upington are very scarce. The teaching sessions were a great help and encouragement to her as well. After coming back to Upington a couple of weeks ago, our family was hit by a round of sicknesses. Both of our boys caught the flu/cold bugs going around, first our 3-year-old Isaiah, and then our 7-year-old Jeremiah. They took turns being sick for 3-5 days each, and then decided to share it with Dad. :) As long as the ladies don’t catch it, we should all be back to normal in a couple of days. Next week, we will be going back down to Cape Town. I had a hernia surgery back in February, but as I had been dealing with several unusual symptoms recently I consulted a specialist during our recent trip to Cape Town. At that visit it was discovered that my original hernia had recurred and that I was developing another hernia on the other side. On July 12 I will be having surgery down in Cape Town to make the necessary repairs. Thank you so much for your prayers for us and for your financial support. It is times like these, when just living life presents unexpected turns, that we are encouraged in the knowledge that God’s people are lifting us up. Missionary Update 05/08/2017
Dear Pastor Smith and Faith Baptist Church, Our autumn is in full swing down here in South Africa. We are looking forward to the seasonal climate change to cooler weather. My recovery from hernia surgery back in February has been going along fine. I am back to almost 100% functionality, for which I am very grateful. I still have a bit of residual pain, but unless an acute even occurs, I am chalking it up to the normal healing process. We have been continuing in our Afrikaans studies. We still have a long way to go, but we are grateful for our increasing ability to converse with people. Over the next few weeks, we will have several decisions to make regarding where to begin church planting efforts. Please pray with us as we seek His leadership.
